Bear With It
Lessons from a crime-fighting security guard
A man faces assault charges after allegedly spraying bar patrons twice with bear spray. Kodiak police charged Daniel Pement after the incidents Saturday and Sunday at the B&B Bar.
Police said Pement was escorted from the bar on Saturday, but returned 15 minutes later and allegedly sprayed customers. The spray is a kind of pepper spray used to ward off a bear during an encounter.
On Sunday, police were called to the bar again after Pement allegedly sprayed patrons with another can of bear spray.

GERI’S LESSON FOR CIVILIAN: If you won’t wanna ward off an encounter at a bar, don’t spray someone with bear spray. Try eating an entire clove of garlic or dressing in a mime outfit, that will do the trick every time.

March 11, 2008 @ 4:37 pmOMG! Had a close encounter with this dude on the bus. I swear to god he smelled like he had been taken a bath in garlic…the stench was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before!! You could practically feel how the garlic smell was oozing out of him. I had trouble breathing, that’s how bad it was…and mind you, I’m a huge garlic lover, but this was just awful.

April 20, 2008 @ 1:06 pmI use to work in Kodiak, commercial fishing(what a good dyke am I?) I went to that bar, many times(it was right next to the harbor) crazy fisherman’s bar it is. Plus, there are some huge bears around there, though usually not in town.
PS don’t you think the garlic and black mime outfit will attract Italians ? which might me more trouble?
